Add Comment Just a quick note to say THANK YOU to everyone for a wonderful (and busy) holiday shopping season. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, a marvelous Christmas and a killer Kwanzaa (it was the 26th, for those of you who don't know). Happy New Year to all and to all a great 2011! And with that I would like to leave you all with a hilarious picture of our dog, Trixie. She sends doggie New Years Kisses to everyone. Happy Birthday to US! 10% Sales All Around. 11/02/2010
![]() Celebrate how you want, but here's a hint... This November we are celebrating Storia’s first birthday. It was just last October when we got our Etsy shop up and running and last December when we finished putting up the first version of thestoriaproject.com. Hard to imagine it’s already been a year… and funny to think that it’s only been a year. I guess time flies when you’re having fun.All month long we’ve got some little “thank you” slash “birthday” sales going on, all revolving around 10%, because it’s our first brithday. If you’re getting ready for some holiday shopping our birthday party is right in time. ![]() First off, all Storia GIFT CERTIFICATES are 10% off for the entire month! Give the gift of choice, or hipness, as we humbly advise. Next, we’ve got rotating weekly sales featuring a different product at 10% off every week. You have to catch ‘em before they’re gone though: November 1-10: TRUCKERS November 11-17: UPCYCLED SACKS November 18-25: All LEATHER, this means BELTS & CUFFS November 26-30: FEATHER DANGLERS ![]() Beachside Photoshooting. It's been a good year. Apart from these birthday sales open to everyone, if you’ve been a customer in our first year of business you will receive an email with a special, personalized code that entitles you to an EXTRA 10% off anything in the store from now until January 1st, 2011. It’s just a little thank you for helping us take off. More news on sales on the way as well as reflections on our first year in movement, online at least. It’s a month-long celebration and everyone’s invited! ![]() What is it about Alaska that makes time there always so productive? Could it be the midnight sun? The fresh air? The people? The small biz culture? Regardless of what it is, every trip back to my home state brings about huge inspiration, full days and many times new ideas and usually a plethora of new products. In fact, we successfully managed to get almost all of the Storia inventory on the official site, available to Alaskans at absolutely no shipping charges. The good news continues... ![]() I'm convinced that we would need an entire strip mall to accommodate all the different product typologies that have been created through the Storia name. Home furnishings, jewelry, beachy wear, elegant accessories... Sometimes it's creativity overload and the days are just too short. Thank goodness Alaska enjoys long summer days to work on realizing all these new ideas. Look for signs of expansion, remodeling, redefining and redesigning in the near future. It's on the way. ![]() www.universalarticle.com At the end of August we were featured in Universal Article, a great, independent website dedicated to headwear. The UA folks know their hats! Check out the article & comments on The Storia Project to see what the buzzzzzz is all about. At the beginning of September I was lucky enough to photoshoot with two Alaskan beauties (and good friends), Sarah and Ivory, who modeled the newest Storia gear in true Alaskan fashion. It was an afternoon filled with stories, laughter and... float planes? Yes, we we shot around the downtown Anchorage area and made a twilight stop at Lake Hood, the world's busiest seaplane base. What could be more Alaskan? Not only did the girls love the new Storia goods, they also looked great wearing them! If you haven't already seen photos from the Midnight Sun Photoshoot, take a looksy and feast your eyes... Oh my! Is that a Storia hoodie I see? Like I said, new things are on the way. ![]() Feathered Treats Amongst the various new truckers and cuffs we also photographed a brand new line of products: Feathered Treats! These feather earrings are inspired by the 60's, a laid-back, happy fashion generation. In my personal opinion the best thing about these earrings is the fact that they are weightless. Us girls have all suffered from heavy, bulky earrings that tug at your ear lobes and leave you sore for days. These feather earrings weigh nothing, but make a big statement at the same time. Perfect with your hair up or down and ideal for informal outfits or fancy dresses. if you can't tell, I'm stoked about them. Quick Alaska Trip 08/11/2010
For all who didn't get the head's up: I'll be in Alaska until September 9th doing the vacation family thing (fishing!) and doing research... along with lots of Storia biz! I've got new products from Italy including some super soft Italian silk scarves with retro polka dots and stripes and lots of bags-- plus some other surprises. Check out the Secret Stash if you want the exclusive access to the new line- discounted from Euro prices and with zero shipping. You'll need the password, so just ask and you shall receive! It is here, it is real, it is now. It is diverse, it is powerful, and yes my friends, it is truly Roman. It is Buona Pace from the Italian hip hop icons, Cor Veleno. Released this week on May 25 from RCA/Sony Music, Buona Pace is the newest addition to Cor Veleno's long line of discography and makes a grand entrance into today's capricious music industry in a terrific way. It is true that rap can and almost must be direct to a confrontational level and stirring to an abrasive level, and in fact this is a rap album, but anyone with even a basal appreciation of any music genre would be silly (for lack of better words) to pass these twelve tracks by. Cor Veleno: Buona Pace (Sony Music)
The trio that is Cor Veleno- Primo, Grandi Numeri & Squarta- has successfully, artfully created an album that embodies not just a hybrid music genre theory, but an evolved hip hop music theory. Buona Pace is comparable to a well-curated art exhibition in which each track would need its own room with blank walls to fully express its distinctive personality. With reggae, rock and classical undertones just to name a few Buona Pace proposes a new sound without compromising the intelligent, charismatic attributes so characteristic of Cor Veleno's previous work. If anything, the new sound is indicative of a talent only shared amongst the most passionate musicians at work these days. Following the heavy rotation single "L'Odore del Mare", Buona Pace is now available on iTunes as well as in music stores across Italy. If you are American (like me) and have to fight with iTunes to get this album save yourself from banging your head against the wall (like I did) and go straight to 7digital.com where you can even pay with PayPal. We hope everyone in the Storia world will check out Buona Pace- not just because the Cor Veleno guys are good friends of ours and die-hard Storia supporters, but because they are legit. And nobody knows legit like we know legit. Give it a look, then give it a go, but more than anything... ENJOY. COR VELENO OFFICIAL WEBSITE Villa Pamphili: Old Papal Family Property, Largest Park in Rome... My Brainstorming Office? 05/11/2010
Let's face it. Working from home has all of it's pluses, but every once in a while you have to get out! Actually, more than every once in a while, more like daily, is ideal. Anyone who has ever worked from a home office knows what I mean; more than X amount of hours in front of the computer/sewing machine/etc and your productivity level goes down very quickly. This entry shares a little bit about my playground, my brainstorming zone, my nap time spot, my place of escape. And, when you really need some fresh air is there really any better place to go than an old villa once known to Romans as Bel Respiro? I think not. I have the great fortune of living next to the largest public park in Rome: Villa Doria Pamphili. Villa Pamphili is the old property of the Papal Pamphili family as well as the inherited property of the royal Doria family. If you look at an aerial view of Rome you will see two huge splotches of green interrupting the urban layout- one is the also famous Villa Borghese and the other one is my backyard... It is a well known fact that exercise does 'ya good. It's also a well known fact (here in Rome at least) that if you want to get away from the city and go jogging, Villa Pamphili is one of the best places to go. But, as I only really like running on poorly groomed trails in thick forests with the possibility of running into large, dangerous wildlife (you can take the girl out of Alaska, but you can't take...)- let's just say that I don't come to Villa Pamphili to jog. I'm more likely to be found plopped down under a tree, face to the sun, thinking up a storm, possibly with my iPod in hand. I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world for several reasons and one definitely has to do with this place. I can't think of a better way to "get out of the house", revive creativity, pass the siesta hour, get a tan and dream up new "impossible" plans than basking in the front lawn of one of the most powerful families that made Rome. Plus, the statues are big Storia fans. Wednesday Wisdom III 05/05/2010

"Art has been veritably invaded by life, if life means flux, change, chance, time unpredictability... Sometimes the difference between the two is sheer consciousness, the awareness that what seemed to be a stain on the wall is in fact a work of art."-Michael Kimmelman | What's in, what's new and what's up.
This blog is a little more intimate look at the life behind Storia- my life and the lives of those who have helped Storia rock on into the future. With every idea and project that becomes realized we seem to think of five new ones to pursue. Needless to say, we're looking forward to creating and sharing more storie as this adventure unfolds. Daily adventures, that's our thing. ArchivesSettembre 2011 CategoriesAll |
